Mount Vernon High School upperclassmen made their way to the auditorium for their beginning of the school year assemblies on Thursday, September 12, 2024. Eleventh-grade students attended their assembly during fourth period, and it was immediately followed by the 12th-grade assembly.

Mount Vernon High School received a letter of acceptance from the International Baccalaureate Programme (IB) on Monday, August 12, 2024, notifying the school of its approval to offer the Career-related Programme. MVHS currently offers several IB courses, which are international college-level classes where students can receive an IB Diploma and even college credit.

New York State Community Schools Eastern Technical Assistance Center will be hosting a webinar with Mount Vernon High School today, Monday, June 24, 2024, to explore job readiness opportunities such as graphic design, an IRS partnership at the school, Ford technical modules, cyber security and mock trials. MVHS celebrates graduating seniors at Senior Awards Convocation

On Monday, June 17, 2024, Mount Vernon High School held its 36th annual Senior Awards Convocation in which members of the graduation class were recognized for their hard work and efforts in high school. Over 70 Students filed onto the stage one by one, as their family and friends clapped in support of their loved ones. Over 60 awards and scholarships were given to students in recognition of all their accomplishments.

Eric and Britaney

June brings many great things for students — warm weather, summer break, graduation — and for many students, recognition for their accomplishments. Mount Vernon High School has named Eric Lu its valedictorian and Britaney “British” Sinclair as its salutatorian for the Class of 2024. Over the past four years, both students have shown great dedication to their studies and community.
