Sparkly dresses, suits and jewelry adorned the stage of the Mount Vernon High School auditorium for the Knights Boutique’s “Say Yes to the Dress or Tux” event on Friday, April 19, 2024. Students from MVHS chose prom attire during the school day, and students from each of the other high schools in the District picked out clothes in the evening.
Nichol Nunez, a Mount Vernon High School Class of 2020 graduate and Monroe College student, is making the most out of her post-secondary education following her high school graduation. She delivered her poster presentation on the impacts of rheumatoid arthritis on women under 30 at the Northeast Regional Honors Council (NHRC) Conference in Albany April 4 to 7. This was Nichol’s third consecutive NRHC conference.
Culinary 3 students at Mount Vernon High School were mixing things up in the kitchen to create colorful and decorative cakes on Friday, April 12, 2024. Four students from the class created their own cakes to participate in the New York State Restaurant Association ProStart Cake Decorating competition, in hopes of their dessert placing for a cash prize.
Mia Youngs, a senior at Mount Vernon High School, has worked through high school as well as being heavily involved and committed to school activities, academics and student government. She has been accepted into several schools, including some with scholarships.
The SkillsUSA club has been hard at work at Mount Vernon High School and celebrated SkillsUSA week in February 2024. Skills USA is a national career and technical student organization that empowers students to learn important skills that can help them start their careers.
Ava Dilone, a senior at Mount Vernon High School, is making a difference in the lives of those around her through the Career Technical Education (CTE) program. She is in her second year in the nursing assistant program, which is offered through CTE at the high school.

Students flocked to the community center at Mount Vernon High School for the second job fair hosted by the Westchester-Putnam Career Center and Rye Playland on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. Students applied and interviewed for various jobs such as ride operator and concession stand attendant.
